Our mission
Powering Opportunity in Education — South Bay Scholarships’ mission is to assist low-income, first-generation students in earning a college degree by providing financial support, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities for the duration of their college education. We strive to "be the difference" for students who see college as a tangible goal but a financial challenge. We currently work with first-generation, low-income students across San José, Los Gatos, and the greater South Bay, and we form new school partnerships each year.

How it works for applicants
Apply directly on our website
Open to first-generation, low-income students across the South Bay. Many students first hear about POE from their school counselor, but they can also submit applications directly through this site.
Interview with POE South Bay
Our volunteer selection committee interviews selected candidates in person or over Zoom.
Scholarship + Mentor
Winners receive up to $6,000/year and a personal mentor for the full 4–4.5 years of their degree.
